ROXON Oy specializes in delivering demanding material handling solutions. According to Jaakko Niiranen, Director of Service Business and Occupational Health and Safety, HSEQ issues are important to ROXON and they are systematically developed in everyday work. This was reflected in good points in the HSEQ® assessment conducted in autumn 2023, which is an indication that ROXON’s safety, quality and environmental practices withstand external review. In the HSEQ® assessment, an independent professional assessor examines the capabilities and operations of the supplier company against the expectations set by the customers. A report is prepared from the assessment, in which the results are presented as maturity levels, and these are used to calculate the supplier company’s capabilities in points.
“We received concrete recommendations for improvement from the HSEQ®-assessment, which we have implemented”, says Niiranen.
Our improvements have clearly yielded results, as evidenced by ROXON’s award for best supplier health, safety and environment in the Boliden Odda expansion project in Norway in 2024. ROXON delivered a material handling system for the project, which included planning, a guide chute as well as fixed and mobile conveyors. Success was ensured by careful planning and active cooperation with the customer and other suppliers. In the words of Kjartan Huus, Project Manager for Boliden’s GZO project:
“ROXON focused on safety already in the design phase, proposing proven and safe solutions.”
According to Boliden, ROXON’s operations demonstrate a clear commitment to HSEQ principles:
“ROXON prioritizes safety, creating a culture of awareness and responsibility. Installation expertise, consistent results even under tight schedules, and a proactive and solution-oriented approach are factors that support not only the success of the project, but also the goals of the HSEQ® assessment. These strengths awarded ROXON credit as the Best Supplier Health, Safety and Environment”.
According to Niiranen, ROXON is proud that its work on HSEQ issues is visible and has resulted in recognition.
“However, the work is not finished, and improvement on health, safety and quality issues continues at ROXON,” Niiranen states.
