More than auditing – Sarlin’s experiences with HSEQ assessment
The HSEQ assessment was much more than just an audit day for Sarlin. The assessment, led by Kiwa, offered us the opportunity to meet our most important customers, representatives of the HSEQ cluster, and the auditor, familiar from the previous time, was able to create an open atmosphere for lively discussion. Under his leadership, we had a fruitful dialogue aroud safety, quality, environmental responsibility and leadership.
The previous assessment was carried out in 2022, and it was a pleasure to notice that we have developed our operations in the right direction. Our score was already at an excellent level at that time, but now it has increased even further. Our strengths, summarized in the final report, confirmed that we have focused on the right things. The improvement areas, in turn, brought new ideas, that promote those HSEQ issues that our customers value. One concrete example is to add certain safety indicators into our monitoring scheme.
Thanks to careful preparation, the assessment day was efficient. We focused in the self-assessment in advance and all related materials were already gathered together. This gave us time for dialogue and allowed us to focus on essential issues, such as demonstrating the level of our operations. Investing in the HSEQ assessment is also an effective way to avoid separate supplier assessments, which also tie up time and other resources.
The Sarlin team found the event inspiring and useful. The assessment was not just a review, but we gained valuable insights into our everyday work. We also got to delve deeply into the customer perspective, and these valuable views and emphases from customers further strengthened our desire to develop operations responsibly and customer-oriented. The broad participation from both our side and our customers emphasized that the event was seen as a mutual opportunity for learning and development.
Finally, I would like to thank all participants, both from Sarlin and from the client companies, for their valuable contribution and open discussion. Our guiding principle has long been a better future for business and the environment, built together with our partners. The HSEQ process has shown that we are on the right track together.
